Nanga Parbat (Naked
Mountain) is the 9th highest mountain in the world andthe western attach
of the Himalayas. Situated in Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, Nanga Parbat
is one of the eight-thou sanders, with a top elevation of 8,126 meters (26,660
ft). An huge, theatrical peak rising far above its surrounding land, Nanga
Parbat has not only proved tough to climb, but also has a distinguished
incidence of disaster connected with its climbing.

Nanga Parbat forms the
western attach of the Himalayan Range and is the westernmost eight-thousander.
It lies just south of the Indus River in the Diamer District of
Gilgit–Baltistan in Pakistan. Not extreme to the north is the western end of
the Karakoram series.The center of Nanga Parbat is a long edge trending
southwest–northeast. The edge is an huge size of ice and rock. It has three
faces, Diamir face, Rakhiot and Rupal. It is divide into the Diamir (west) face
and the Rakhiot (north) face by a long ridge. There are a number of additional summits,
counting North Peak (7,816 m / 25,643
ft) some 3 km north of the main top.
