Introduction:
Rama Lake is 2,600 meters
(8,500 ft) Astore Valley, Gilgit–Baltistan. Rama Lake is a lake close
to Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is on the top of the beautiful
Astore Valley, with a light wrap of trees and other plants. The area has little
average rainfall and little vegetation cover hence the failure of forest cover
is of a very significant concern. Rama Valley is strongly forested with massive
pine. The valley is about 3300 meters (10800 feet) above sea level and thus is
snow covered for 7–8 months of the year. In summer, it becomes abundant green;
conditions special by local shepherds.

Lake Rama is near
Astore village. On KKH after passing the leave for FairyMeadows keep driving
for about another 20 minutes. When you come across the sign for Astore turn
right there, keep going for another 2–3 hours. You will enter at the village of
Astore. The valley is popular for camping in the summers. Road towards Rama
lake now has been smooth and tourists can reach there without too much
complexity.

On the way to Rama
Lake, from Astore Valley, there are three little lakes called Sarot. On the way to Rama Lake,
from Astore Valley, there are three little lakes called Sarot in the local
Shina language. Before 2005, Astore was a Tehsil of District Diamir, the 5th
District of Gilgit-Baltistan. Now Astore has been upgraded to a District. Rama Lake 35°19′51″N
74°47′8″E.
